Dar Emma is a charming 2-bedroom holiday house at the front of Essaouira’s historic Old Medina, sleeping 2–4 guests. This characterful traditional Moroccan house combines original architectural details with eclectic 1960s furniture and contemporary comforts, creating a relaxed and intimate home away from home.

The house is just a short walk from Place Moulay Hassan, Essaouira’s main square, with restaurants, shops and the Medina’s lively streets close by. The long sandy Atlantic beach is around a 10-minute walk away, making Dar Emma an ideal base for couples, friends and small families exploring Essaouira.

Inside Dar Emma

Dar Emma has the character of a traditional Essaouira house, with thick stone walls, original patterned floor tiles and a relaxed mix of mid-century furniture and Moroccan pieces. The house is arranged across four floors, creating separate spaces for sleeping, dining and relaxing while retaining the intimate atmosphere of a private Medina home.

Cosy enough for two yet comfortable for up to four guests, Dar Emma is particularly well suited to couples, friends and small families who want to experience Essaouira from within the historic Medina rather than from a conventional hotel.

Four Floors of Character

Ground level:

The ground floor has an open-plan dining area and small kitchen arranged around the central courtyard, with an open fireplace providing a cosy focal point for evenings at home.

1st floor:

The first floor has a cosy double bedroom with a shower room opposite.

2nd floor:

The second floor has a second double bedroom and a small private terrace with an outdoor dining area.

3rd floor:

The top terrace is Dar Emma’s peaceful outdoor retreat, furnished with comfortable cushions and director’s chairs. It’s an ideal spot for morning coffee, afternoon sun or stargazing over the rooftops of the Medina.

A Note About Essaouira’s Cats: Essaouira is famous for its friendly street cats, and the occasional feline visitor may wander into Dar Emma. This is a normal part of life in the Medina and, for many guests, adds to the authentic character of staying in an old Moroccan house.

Dar Emma is located at the front of Essaouira’s historic Old Medina, just a short walk from Place Moulay Hassan. From the house, you can easily explore the Medina’s souks, independent shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as the historic harbour and Skala.
